Free Consultation
I will meet with you and your partner to get to know you and your vision for your birth and make sure that we are a good fit to provide you the best care for your birthing experience.
Phone & Email Support
I will be on-call for you two weeks before and after your due date. You are able to call/text me anytime for any questions at 712-355-8249. You may also email me at theproverbsdoula@gmail.com.
2 Prenatal Visits
We will go over/make a birth plan for you and go through some exercises to help prepare you and your body for your birth. You can discuss any questions or concerns you may have from your prenatal appointments with your provider or just update me on the status.
As a Doula, I Do Not:
During labor
I will accompany you in labor to help create a safe and satisfying birth experience. I draw on my knowledge and experience to provide emotional support, physical comfort, and the information you need to make informed decisions as they arise in labor. I provide reassurance and perspective to you and your partner, make recommendations for labor progress, and use relaxation, massage, positioning, and other techniques for comfort.
I will take notes during your labor and provide you with a keepsake timeline of your whole process to keep and look back on.
Perform any clinical tasks
I do not take blood pressure, fetal heart checks, vaginal exams, or other medical procedures that fall under the legal definition of practicing medicine. I do not provide information, dosages or advice concerning prescriptions, alternative medication or medical advice.
Baby’s first feeding Support
I will remain with YOU for up to two hours after the birth to make sure that you and baby are stable. During this time I can take photographs, answer any questions, watch for feeding cues, and help with breastfeeding/bottle feeding.
Make decisions for you
I will help you get the information necessary to make an informed decision.
Postpartum follow-up visit
I will call and check-in to see how everyone is doing during your first week. I am available by phone/text/email to answer any questions you may have regarding you or your baby--call anytime! I love hearing and going over your birth and will give you a birth timeline at this time.
Speak to the staff on your behalf
I will discuss your concerns with you and suggest options and facilitate conversations.
Project any of my own beliefs onto your experience
I am an unbiased support system for you and your spouse. I will not judge you or think negatively towards you for any choice you make. I am solely there for support and to help with any questions or concerns you may have during the process.
